Plut Privacy Policy
Effective September 9, 2026
Plut helps you manage a personal budget, record expenses, and track shared costs. This policy explains how the app handles your information.
Information handled by the app
Plut lets you enter budgets, income amounts, expense details, notes, categories, friend names, shared expense amounts, trip information, and repayment records.
Storage
Your budgets, manually entered expenses, notes, trips, friends, and repayments are stored in the app’s private storage on your iPhone. Plut does not require an account for these features. Your device may include local app data in device backups according to your Apple and iPhone backup settings.
Exports and imports
You choose when and where to export a backup, and which CSV or backup file to import. Exported files are outside Plut’s private storage and follow the privacy and security practices of the location or service you choose.
Receipt screenshots
When you scan a Chase notification screenshot, text recognition occurs on your device. Plut uses the image only to create editable expense drafts and does not upload or retain a copy. If you select an existing image, the original remains in your Photos library under your control.
Optional connected accounts
If you choose to connect a credit card or bank account, Plut uses Sign in with Apple through Supabase to create a private sync identity and Stripe Financial Connections to connect the institution. Supabase processes your account identifier, the email address or private relay address supplied by Apple, and connected-account metadata. Stripe processes the institution credentials, account details, transaction history, and interactions needed to provide and improve its connection flow. Plut never receives or stores your bank password.
Connected transaction data passes through Plut’s secure server function so it can be delivered to the app’s review inbox. The server does not maintain a separate transaction-history database. Transactions enter your local budget only after you approve them. Stripe and the connected institution may retain information as described in their policies and legal obligations.
Collection and tracking
Plut does not use advertising identifiers, track you across other companies’ apps or websites, use analytics to monitor your general activity elsewhere in Plut, or sell personal information. Optional connected-account information is used only for account linking, transaction syncing, security, support, fraud prevention, and Stripe’s connection-flow analytics.
Deleting information
Open Settings in Plut and select Erase all data to remove local information. If you created a connected-account profile, open Linked Accounts and select Delete connected-account profile to revoke Apple authorization, disconnect institutions, and remove the server-side sync profile. Deleting the app removes locally stored data, subject to device backups or exported files, but does not by itself delete an optional connected-account profile.
Children’s privacy
Plut is not directed specifically to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
This policy may be updated when Plut’s features or data practices change. The effective date will be updated when a revised policy is published.
